Tokio Myers is a classically-trained graduate of the Royal College Of Music, but his main inspiration is contemporary London, in all its grit, grime and glory. The pianist's influences are also writ-large in his vast, unusual set-up. There's the keyboard, of course, but also Caribbean steel pans from his Jamaican heritage, Brazilian drums, synthesizers, and sample pads speaking to his love of hip-hop. As a session musician, Myers has toured with Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu and Kanye, but now he's carving his own path as a solo artist .
